Active Directory AD
Definition
Microsoft's enterprise directory service (since Windows 2000 Server) — central repository for user accounts, computer accounts, group policies, authentication (Kerberos). De-facto standard for Windows-based enterprise environments. Cloud successor: Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
